Grace Requires Death

Grace requires death. We must die to our bookkeeping existence that builds our identity on anything other than Jesus. We must relinquish, give up on ourselves, throw in the towel. And out of this death—letting God love us in, not after getting over, our messiness—resurrection life quietly blossoms.” -- Dane Ortlund

Baptism is a Reminder

“Baptism is a clear reminder of our new identity in Christ, and a reminder to those who have participated in this ordinance that we have been united with Christ in his death and resurrection. The church of God must tell the good news of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, and if people respond in repentance and faith, we must baptize them!” -- Todd Engstrom

The Most Incredible Promise of All

Abraham was a former idol-worshiper from Ur who was well past the age for fathering children when God promised him numerous descendants and worldwide blessing. All the patriarch did was believe this incredible promise, and God counted him righteous. But Paul says this truth is about more than Abraham; it applies to us as well. We too can be declared righteous by God if we will only trust in that most incredible promise of all, namely, that the death and resurrection of Christ is the basis of our right standing with God. Justification by faith is not a new doctrine.” -- David Burnette

Gospel Quote - What Evangelism is Not

"Evangelism is not about asking people to try Jesus the way they might try a new decaf moccacino latte from Starbucks. It is more like declaring the victory of the Lord Jesus over sin and death, warning of the judgment to be made by the Lord Jesus over all rebellion, and inviting people to find joy and satisfaction in the life and love that come from the Lord Jesus Christ." -- Michael Bird

Gospel Quotes - The Only Riches You Are Promised

"Jesus’ death means he has taken on your sin, in exchange for his righteousness. God has shown us “the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus” (Eph. 2:7). These are the only riches you are promised in this life—the joy and peace that comes with knowing that you have a good and loving God who has saved you at the infinite cost of his only Son." -- Caleb Flores

What is the Gospel? What Must We Do?

What is the gospel? It is the greatest news that we will ever hear in our lifetime.

It is the news that Jesus defeated Satan and has restored the reign and rule of God over all creation and will one day return to complete the restoration and rule forever.

It is the news that though we have rebelled against God and are separated from Him we can be reconciled and restored in our relationship with Him and be a part of His family forever through Jesus.

It is the news that through the sinless life, sacrificial death and bodily resurrection of Jesus sin, death and hell have been defeated.

This is the most amazing news when you consider that we all rejected God and turned away from Him to be our own gods deciding for ourselves what is right and wrong and seeking life, happiness and purpose on our own terms in created things rather than in the Creator whom we were made by and for.

In light of this incredible news what must we do? First we need to recognize our rebellion against God not making excuses for it and confess it to Him. Second we need to turn from our rebellion back to God giving Him His rightful place in our hearts and lives. Third we need to put our trust in Jesus and all that He did to reconcile us and then follow Him the rest of our lives.
